Wilma "Jean" Slifer, 93 of Effingham, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham with burial in Berry Cemetery, Toledo. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of service, Wednesday morning at the church. Memorial donations may be given to St. John's Food pantry, St. John's Braille Center or to the donor's choice.
Jean was born October 8, 1926 in Champaign County, the daughter of Willis O. and Loda (Ingram) Gordon. She married Noble E. Slifer on February 18, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 2003.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Terry (J.P.) Simmons of Altamont and Debra (Darell) Reynolds of Effingham; sisters, Barbara (James) Bridges of Windsor; grandson, Josh & Michelle Ross and their children, Emma, Nick, Cort and Payton, all of Casey; grandson, Jerrod & Beth Simmons and their children, Hailey Simmons and Alexis and Kyle Jones, all of Altamont; granddaughter, Erin Ross and her children, Riley and Elijah Silveira and Nixon Morris, all of Vine Grove, Kentucky; step-granddaughter, Jennifer and Tim Swank and their daughter, Morgan of Tampa, Florida; step-granddaughter, Jill Stigers and her children, Makayla and Aiden of Dieterich; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Beverly Kay and three sisters.
