He was also a member of the Teutopolis American Legion and the Marine Corps League, where he was a part of the color guard at local ballgames. A skilled carpenter by trade, he built many homes throughout his career, and after retirement, he found joy in crafting beautiful furniture. Bill is survived by his daughters, Karen (Stan) Schutte of Stewardson and Kayla (Jeff) Hemmen of Teutopolis; sons, Dennis (Tress) of Dieterich and Terry (Barb) of Teutopolis; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Randy; and his siblings, Bob Schuette, Norbert Funneman, Ralph Funneman, Jim Funneman, Mary Ann Zerrusen, Carol Ann Ruholl, Tom Funneman, Don Funneman, and Steve Funneman.

Bill's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers—Sabrina, Patricia, and Anita—as well as to Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
