William D. "Bill" Fancher, 72 of Effingham, passed away at 4:47 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church in Effingham followed by a celebration of life at the Effingham Country Club for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to the donor's choice.
Bill was born June 9, 1941 in Louisville, the son of Kenneth and Rachel (Freeze) Fancher. He married Ann Brown on August 26, 1962 and she survives. Bill was a teacher, coach and administrator for 35 years in the Dieterich, Mt. Zion and Rockford areas. He also worked for American Family Insurance for 12 years. Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Effingham, Effingham Elks B.P.O.E. #1016, former I.H.S.A.A member and a member of the Effingham Country Club.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ann of Effingham; two sons, Todd (Carie) of Madison, WI and Scott of Clarksville, TN; brother, Phillip (Beth) Fancher of Louisville; sister, Beverly (Gary) Nelson of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Hailey, Trey, Kaitlyn and Madeline.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and son, Matthew, who passed away in 1982.
