Wilbert A "Willie" Niebrugge, 76, of rural Watson, IL died on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Carle
Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the church with a 7:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Schools or donor's choice. Willie was born January 21, 1937 in Effingham, the son of Edward J. and Rose (Esker) Niebrugge. He
married Carol A. Will on October 17, 1959 at Sacred Heart Church in Lillyville (Teutopolis). He was a
1954 graduate of St. Anthony High School and served in the National Guard. He worked for the
Effingham Equity for 44 years and retired in 1999. Willie was actively engaged in raising cattle and
other livestock for the entirety of his life, and he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He and Carol
raised seven sons and are also the proud grandparents of 18. Willie loved to work hard and could create
nearly any tool that was necessary or fix any equipment that needed repair. Willie also loved camping,
splitting wood, and playing cards. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Willie was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, the National Rifle Association, the Simmental
Association, Effingham Knights of Columbus #665, and former board member of the Effingham
Sportsman Club.
Survivors include Carol, his wife; sons Gary L. (Debbie) Niebrugge of Watson, Brian F. (Special Friend
Betty Watson)of Effingham, Jeffrey R. of Teutopolis, Kevin H. (Misty) of Watson, Mark D. (Amy) of rural
Effingham, and Daniel J. (Toni) of Watson; Brothers, Virgil (Mary) of Effingham; James (Alice) of
Teutopolis; Sisters, Florence Doedtman of Effingham, Bertha Bushur of Effingham; Sister-in-law, Zita
Niebrugge; Mother-in-law, Dolores Will of Teutopolis. Grandchildren Kristin Williamson of Urbana,
Katherine(Jacob) Clark of Jacksonville, FL, Jennifer(fiancée' Austin Brooks) Niebrugge of Watson, Kyle
and Matthew Niebrugge of Watson, Tyler Niebrugge of Collinsville, Lance Niebrugge of Terre Haute IN,
Dylan, Devin, and Colin Niebrugge of Teutopolis, Brody Niebrugge of Watson, Will, Audrey and Grace
Niebrugge of rural Effingham, Hunter, Blake, and Hailey Niebrugge of Watson; Great Grandson Evan
Williamson of Urbana; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and god children.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Rose Niebrugge; his son, Douglas Edward; his
brother, Leroy; father-in-law, Vincent Will; brothers-in-law, Frank Doedtman and Harold Bushur.
