Obituary

Walker Lee Warden, left this world peacefully to go home to his Lord and Savior Jesus on August 25, 2026, after bravely battling leukemia for nearly three years. Born on June 9, 2021, in Effingham, Illinois, Walker was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. He spent his final days surrounded by the love of his family—his devoted parents, Jacob and Abby Warden, his cherished siblings Gabrielle, Wesley, Wiley, and Meredith, his Grandma Thalia, and his Aunt Adaire —at a comforting countryside Respite Airbnb in Crawfordsville, Arkansas.

Walker was a child who embraced the simple pleasures of life. With the highs and the lows he was faced with, he endured with an infectious persevering attitude. He delighted in opening Pokémon cards alongside his dad and brothers, savoring family game nights, and embarking on simple gas station trips. He had a knack for finding joy in the little things, such as online shopping, bath bombs, foaming hand soaps, massages, and science experiments.

Throughout his illness, Walker displayed remarkable resilience and strength. His time spent in and out of children's oncology hospitals was marked by his silly nature, wise perspective, and a dimple smile that could light up the darkest of days. His eyes, full of stories and wonder, captivated everyone he met. A quiet reserved listener, his words had great weight when he decided something needed to be said.

Walker held an overflowing respect and admiration for his father, and a quiet, profound appreciation for his mother, who was his primary caretaker and nurse. His love extended to each of his four siblings who were right by his side during his 3 year’s of leukemia treatment—Gabrielle, Wesley, Wiley, and Meredith—creating bonds that will forever remain unbroken.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Walker's memory to Christ’s Church DTI Program in Effingham, Illinois, a tribute to the faith and community that supported them throughout Walker's journey.

The Warden family extends their deepest gratitude to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, for their compassionate care provided to Walker. Along with countless individuals and organizations who supported them during this incredibly difficult and yet faith shaping road they joyfully walked with Walker. Your kindness and love have made a lasting impact on Walker's life and the lives of his family.

Walker's legacy of joy, resilience, and love will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know him. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered. Forever being held by Jesus, remaining in hope, until all things are made new.

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.”    Romans 6:5
