Obituary

W. Arlene Niehaus, 83 of Effingham, passed away at 1:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Schools or donor's choice. Arlene was born January 24, 1932 in Fayette County, the daughter of Dewey R. and Ada May (Wright) Jennings. She married Wayne C. "Charlie" Niehaus on June 6, 1959 and he preceded her in death in 2014. Arlene attended Cosmetology School and was a beautician for several years. She also worked as a waitress at Park Hills Restaurant and was employed for over twenty years with the Secretary of State Driver's License Facility in Effingham. Arlene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, a former Republican County Chairman and member and past President of Republican Women. She enjoyed gardening, golfing and loved her family very much.

Arlene is survived by her two sons, Steve (friend, Velma Klitzing) of Watson and Wayne C. "Charlie" (Patti) Jr. of Altamont; two daughters, Kim (Mike) Webster of Virginia and Mary Ann Meighan of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Francesca Crofts and Lluvia Crofts, both of Denver, CO, Jessie Meighan of Los Angeles, CA and Shelby Niehaus of Altamont; great-granddaughter, Nia Coberley; three sisters, Delva (Frank) Krost of St. Elmo, Linda "Bugs" (Danny) Barker of Brownstown and Joyce (Jim) Rogers of St. Elmo; three brothers, John "Red" (Sharon) Jennings of Louisville, KY, Ronnie (Jan) Jennings of Crystal Lake, IA and Victor "Vic" (Missy) Jennings of Mahomet; sisters-in-law, Kate Jennings of St. Elmo and Ruth Jennings of Edwardsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Wilke, L.R. "Butch" and Dean Jennings; sister-in-law, Arlene Jennings; Donald D. "Duck" Rhodes and Fay Haslett.
