Veronica Joan "Connie" Gonzalez, 88 of Effingham, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service with burial in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, will be held at a later date. Local arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Connie was born July 22, 1933 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Francis and Margaret (Sinnett) Blonde. She moved to Chicago to pursue a career as a X-ray Tech. During that time, she met the love of her life, Serafin "Nick" Gonzalez, Jr. and married him on May 22, 1954. They moved to Northbrook where they were blessed with 5 children in their 64 years of marriage.

Connie was a housewife and worked at a card and gift shop for 17 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Shumway. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling, playing cards, bowling and bingo. She loved her CUBS!

Connie is survived by her children, Don (Sharon) of Payette, ID, Bruce of Northbrook, David (Karen) of Ballwin, MO, Carol (Frank) Mata of Wheeling and Patti (Matt) Berardi of Prairie View; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gloria Jost of DesPlaines, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
