Vera I. Stumborg, 81 of Effingham, passed away at 11:24 a.m., October 23, 2013 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to time of service, Sunday at the funeral home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Vera was born May 18, 1932 in Centralia, the daughter of Marvin and Martha (McDonald) Winegarner. She married Albert Stumborg on December 12, 1953 in Salem. Vera was a retired nurse's assistant and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Vera was an amazing woman. She will be remembered for her faith, sense of humor and love for family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen for their love and care of Vera.

Vera is survived by her husband, Albert of Effingham; son, Joe (Christine) Stumborg of Shelbyville; daughters, Mary Ann (Bruce) Hecht of Lovington, Virginia Stumborg of Effingham and Paula (Larry) Dennison of Jonesboro, Arkansas; brother, Ralph (Memorie) Winegarner of Salem; three sisters, Margie (Walter) Thompson of Ramsey, Leona (Richard) Seidel of Cloudcroft, New Mexico and Grace Ellwell of Wilmington; grandchildren, Lisa (John) Bertetto, Gary Cameron, Jr., James Dennison and Andrew Dennison and five great-grandchilden.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Nancy Cameron.
