Twyla E. Strohl, 82, of Effingham, passed away at 1:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at her home in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service, Saturday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the donor's choice. www.bauerfh.com

Twyla was born April 23, 1929 in Effingham, the daughter of Ezekiel and Mary "Ollie" (Moody) Hanna. She married Jack R. Strohl Sr. and he preceded her in death in 1982. Twyla was a member of the First Church of God in Effingham. She had a heart of gold, always putting the needs of others before her own. She loved to cook, making jelly, canning, mushroom hunting, going fishing and spending time with her family.

She leaves behind her son, Kurt Strohl, wife Jackie of Watson; daughter-in-law, Joan Eggers; grandchildren, Sascha, Kelly and Kasee Eggers, Gene (Angie), Tonya (Rocky Bieman), Michelle and Brandy Strohl, Jeffrey (Genny) Murry; great grandchildren, Mitchell, Riley and Cody Strohl, Connor Eggers and Logan Murry; sisters, Edith Mathews and Betty Bowman; brother, Larry Hanna, wife Karen; sister-in-law, JoAnn Hanna; her beloved companions, dog Sassy and cat, Baby, who stayed loyally by her side throughout her illness.

Twyla was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Sr.; sons, Kenny Eggers , Jack R. Strohl Jr. and infant son, Leo; sisters, Zelma Sinkler, Margie Verdeyen; brothers, Paul Hanna and Bob Hanna.
