Thomas Gene "Tom" Althoff, 80, went to be with the Lord at 2:35 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 at his home in rural Effingham.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, with visitation being held from 9:00 a.m. to time of service. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Tom was born January 27, 1935 in Effingham, the son of Charles and Emma (Meyers) Althoff. He married Lorraine C. Pruemer on November 5, 1955 and she survives. Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham and retired from Fedders Corporation after many years of service. He served on the Effingham County Board from 1972 -1992, represented Douglas Township as a Supervisor from 1993 - 2003 and served as a Trustee member from 2003 - 2009.
Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine; sons, Tim (Linda) and Todd (Mary); grandsons, Luke (Lindsey), Josh (Julie), Cody (Marissa), Mitch (fiance, Sara Zerrusen) and Kyle; great-grandsons, Kayden, Conner and Dane.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Jr. and Alene Althoff.
