Thomas A. "Tom" Vonderheide, 69, passed away at 4:45 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2013 at his home in Stewardson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the church with a 7:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Tom was born December 15, 1943 in Effingham, the son of Henry and Helen (Meyer) Vonderheide. He married Barbara S. Hakman on October 3, 1964 and she survives. Tom was a dairy farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway, Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2874 and National Farmers Organization. He also was a member of the Draft Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association and several antique tractor organizations.
Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara of Stewardson; five sons, Scott (Stacey) of Toledo, Steve (Diana) of Stewardson, Doug of Stewardson, Paul (Tina) of Arnold, MO and Jason (Angie) of Mattoon; daughter, Tammy (Philip) Manhart of Stewardson; two brothers, Charley (Rhonda) Vonderheide of Stewardson and Jim (Mary Lou) Vonderheide of Shumway; twelve grandchildren, Lance, Skylar, Lexi, Grace, Austin, Taylor, Abby, Jacob, Olivia, Connor, Mason and Madison.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Lou Goeckner and brother, Bob Vonderheide.
