Hinkle
June 10, 1935 – July 28, 2022
Theodore "Ted" Hinkle, 87 of Teutopolis, went to the Lord surrounded by his dear family on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at HSHS St. Anthony Hospital.
He was born June 10, 1935 in Mason, Illinois. He was the son of Chester and Mabel (Scruggs) Hinkle. Upon graduating from Effingham High School in 1954, he served in the National Guard from 1955 to 1961. During that time, he began his journey as a bricklayer and finished his career after 45 years. His meticulous craftsmanship can be found throughout Effingham County and the region.
He married the love of his life, Rosalee Weber, on June 18, 1960 and they were Blessed with four children Michael (Shannon) of Teutopolis, Kimberly (Kevin) Willenborg of Peoria, Il , Doug Hinkle, deceased, and Carrie (Axel) Jimenez of Normal, Il. He was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and the Allied Craftsmen Union. Beyond his Craftsmanship, he was known for his attention to detail, sense of humor and his knack for practical jokes, and the mischievous twinkle in his eye. He was a genuine friend to so many. As a labor of love, he and Rosalee volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the Cross at Crossroads where he was named volunteer of the year in 2011.
He is survived by one sibling, Jim Hinkle of New Baden, Illinois and his deceased siblings include Arthur, Evalin, Eileen, Virginia, Avanell, Milton, John, and Betty. He loved traveling, camping, shopping with Rosalee and rooting on the St. Louis Cardinals, but most of all, he cherished his Grandchildren Kaitlin (Tyler) Hinkle-Witges, Taylor (Ryan) Hinkle-Shannon, Kristin (Ryan) Willenborg-Ainsworth, Kyle (Sara) Willenborg, Karson Willenborg, and Ella, Gabe, Adler, and Vale Jimenez and his Great Grandchildren Finley, Marlow and Hattie Witges, Aisley and Asher Shannon, and Baby Ainsworth coming in December.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to Fear Nothing or Meals on Wheels.
