Obituary

Walter "Ted" Wallace,75, of Teutopolis, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ted's wife, Sharon, to be donated locally to someone in need.

Ted was born in Shelby, Michigan, on August 3, 1949, son of Clayton and Esta Mae (Stroup) Wallace. Ted graduated from Altamont High School, class of 1968. He married Sharon Kay Heuerman on July 5, 1969, at St. Francis of Assisi Church. They were married for 55 years. They were blessed with three daughters, Amy, Tammy, and Holly.

Ted worked at World Color Press in Effingham for 30 years. He retired from World Color Press and continued with Lab Corp. for 10 years. Ted was also known for his love of old cars and was known as "Mr. Diecast of Effingham County".  To his local fan club, he was also known a "Kojak" on the local CB channel and was also involved with HAM radio. He had a love of classic cars, and you could see him "cruizin" at the local car shows in his canary yellow 1966 Plymouth Fury, known as "Ethyl". Ted also loved the time he spent fishing on Newton Lake.

Ted is survived by his wife Sharon of 55 years and his three daughters, Amy Goeckner of Heartville, Tammy (Jeff) Probst of Island Grove and Holly (Travis) Dust of Bishop; grandchildren Lauren (Matt) Lustig of Wheeler, Brett (Megan) Goeckner of Xenia, Dunavun (Mackenzie) Goeckner of Dieterich, Elizabeth Abbott (special friend, Clayton Kuhring), Kaleb Probst (special friend, Madison Brown), Wade Probst, Ethyn Dust (fiancé' Madison Magee), Garrett and Landen Dust; great-grandchildren, Gunnar and London Lustig, Bronx and Montana Goeckner and Kash Goeckner; his sister, Sue Ferrell and sister-in-law Janice Wallace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob and Gary, and sisters, Katie Ehlke and Karyn Grunloh.
