Susann Marie Andes, 83 of Effingham, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

A private family mass will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart School.

Susann was born November 17, 1936 at home in Effingham, the daughter of Mike and Marie (Swingler) Bierman. She married Garrett "Gary" Andes on September 1, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 2012.

Susann was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham where she sang in the church funeral choir and served as the Country Store chairperson for the church picnic for several years. She was also a member of the Effingham Women's Bowling Association, Effingham Country Club and the NARFE. Susann enjoyed gardening and maintained a beautiful rose garden for many years.

Susann was a past employee of Norge/ Fedders for many years and was a retiree from the United States Postal Service.

Susann is survived by her son, Chip (Beth) Andes of Effingham; two daughters, Layne (Alan) Millburg of Effingham and Leigh (David) DeWitt of Strongsville, OH; six grandchildren, Michael (Tammy) Andes, Kirsten (Eric) Mattson, Ashtyn (Andy) Ehrlich, Ally (Eric) Vansaghi, Ellen DeWitt (fiance, Jacob Newbright) and Sam DeWitt; great-grandchildren, Emily and Thomas Mattson and Amberlyn Ehrlich; sister, June Cheatum.

Susann was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lois Ludwig and brother, Len Bierman.
