Susan Kaufman, 56, of Effingham died unexpectedly on Friday, November 12th, 2021 in her home.

She was born April 21,1965 to her parents Harold Kaufman and Marian (Bergfeld) Kaufman in Tehran, Iran while they were teaching abroad at the time. She was the second born of four children. Susan attended Teutopolis High School, going on to study Elementary Education at Eastern Illinois University. She was a devoted and proud mother to her only son, Sean Douglas and had a special place in her heart for parents, family, and dear friends- always cherishing her relationships with others and fiercely loving those around her. From a young age, she was a bright "social butterfly" with a vivacious personality, lighting up any room like a vibrant ray of sunshine. She led a life of passion, servitude, and selflessness, always putting others above herself. She will be remembered for her beautiful, giving soul and the lasting impact she made on those around her.

Susan is survived by her son Sean Douglas, parents Harold and Marian Kaufman, sister Pamela McGee and brother Steven Kaufman and was preceded in death by her brother Brian Kaufman. She will be missed dearly by those around her but we find comfort in knowing her soul is free and at peace with those who departed before her.

We invite you to join us for a memorial visitation at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham on Wednesday, November 17th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Loyal Order of the Moose from 6:30pm-8:30pm and is open to the public.
