Steven W. "Whitey" Koester, 52, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 at his home in Montrose.

Private family graveside services will be held at Leith Cemetery.

Steven was born January 29, 1968 in Effingham, the son of Ronald and Linda (Brown) Koester. He married Brenda Golden and she preceded him in death in 2010.

He is survived by his son, Kameron and daughter, Kendra (Troy) Holland, both of Stewardson; life partner, Lori Gerhardt of Montrose; step-sons, Skylar Gerhardt and Wesley Bailey, both of Effingham; step-mother Pam Lawrence of Beecher City; brothers, Doug (Leslie) Koester of Beecher City, Shane (Jessica) Koester of Effingham, Brent Koester of Florida, Brian Koester of Augusta, Georgia and Lance (Chrissy) Koester of Beecher City; sisters, Tina (Jesse) Mays of Altamont and Kim (fiance, Tim Bethel) Koester of Cowden.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, Kaleb and daughter, Bobbie Jayne.
