Stanley E. Grabski, 64, of Effingham, formerly of Springfield, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 10, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with visiting hours from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Stanley was born September 17, 1947 in Arlington County, Virginia, the son of Frank and Corrine (Ziegler) Grabski. Stan married Susan Anderson on September 4, 1971 in Pontiac, and she survives.
Stan grew up in Springfield, where he attended Little Flower Grade School and Griffin High School. He then graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Stan worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 36 years. He held many positions and retired as District Engineer for District 7 in Effingham. Stan and Sue have lived the past 12 years on Lake Sara in Effingham and were members of Sacred Heart Church in Effingham. Stan was also a member of the Effingham Water Authority Erosion Control Committee. He took great pleasure in organizing the annual Good Neighbors of Lake Sara Fireworks Display.
Stan is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Erin (Josh) Cook of Quincy; two sons, Adam Grabski of Effingham and Thomas Grabski of Rolla, MO; brother, Frank (Linda) Grabski of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Ann (Louis) Pisani of Overland Park, KS; four grandchildren, Caleb, Cayden, Camron and Courtney Cook; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Nicole Grabski.
