Stanley Kenneth Brooks, 59 of Effingham, passed away Friday morning, June 19, 2015 after a long illness.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Born and raised in Newton, Stanley was employed for 43 years with Norris Electric Cooperative, the past 25 years being based in Effingham. Stanley took great pride in his job. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandson. He also had many hobbies through the years including gardening, fishing, trapping, coin collecting and tinkering with his 1947 Chevy pickup. Stanley was a member of the Effingham Elks Lodge #1016 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

As an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Stan will be missed terribly by his friends and family, but we gain comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and in the loving hands of God.

Stan is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa (Faller) of Effingham; sons, Matthew (Karan) of Glen Carbon, Joseph of San Jose, CA and Daniel of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter, Laura (Scott) Baker of Gurnee; grandson, August (Matthew's son); mother, Clarrean of Newton; brothers, Steve (Valerie) of Palos Heights and Randy (Sandy) of Newton; sisters-in-law, Camille (Ed) Weiler of Claremont, Jackie (George) Snider of Dundas, Louise (Jerry) Wright of Upatoi, GA, Ginger Swaner of Robinson and Mary (David) Johnson of Ingraham; brother-in-law, James (Carol) Faller of Effingham; many nieces and nephews also survive.
