Russell D. "Russ" Nuxoll, 54, went to be with the Lord at 7:17 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2012 at his home in Effingham after a long battle with cancer.

Russ was born July 23, 1957 in Effingham, the son of Ray B. W. and Mary (Willenborg) Nuxoll. He married Diana K. (Ooton) on October 22, 2006 in Effingham and she survives.

Russ attended St. Clare Catholic Church in Altamont and was the maintenance and groundskeeper for the Effingham Unit 40 School District. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. Russ also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and had a love for animals.

He is survived by his wife, Diana of Effingham; daughters, Sara (David) Boyer of Sullivan, Lynn Griggs of Effingham, Angie (Shane) Byers of Mason and Casey (Evan) Lee of Poulsbo, WA; three brothers, George (Colleen) of Sigel, Thomas (Louise) of Effingham and Raymond J. (Jan) of Effingham; two sisters, Mary Lynn (Ron) Hartke of Teutopolis and Lisa (Ron) Blythe of Stewardson; ten grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Russ is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Justice Steele.
