Roy Wakefield, 85 of Shumway, passed away November 4, 2020 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

A family mass will be held with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Shumway with military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway or to Catholic Charities.

Roy was born December 6, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Ward and Mary Wakefield. He married Marcella "Sally" Hartke on June 26, 1957. Roy was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1957 to 1959.  He farmed for many years, including livestock farming, and enjoyed working with his sons. Roy also spent many years doing plaster work.

Roy is survived by his wife, Sally; his children, Kathy Wakefield, Ron (Karen) Wakefield, Nancy(Kurt) Thoele, Janet (Kurt) Zerrusen, Jim (Rita) Wakefield and Wes (Amy) Wakefield; brother, Carl (Glenda) Wakefield; 18 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul and daughter, Marilyn.
