Roy W. Crenshaw, 78, of Effingham passed away at 9:20 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham after battling cancer for several months.
Funeral services will be held privately for the family only with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family with arrangements.
Roy was born August 27, 1933 in Salem, the son of Roy W. and Lottie (Courtaway) Crenshaw. After high school, he served a four year enlistment in the U.S. Navy and attended Eastern Illinois University. Roy was a car salesman for J.K. Mitchell in Greenup for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Effingham.
He married Marilyn (Taylor) Scott in 1981 and she survives, along with five step-children, Patrick (Debbie) Scott of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Lesa (Doug) Glen of Barnegat, New Jersey, Sheryl Carder of Mason, Ohio, Susan Scott of Effingham and Douglas (Pamela) Scott of Danvers; six grandchildren, Neil (Sarah) Conder, Larissa (Bob) Lilley, Nicholas Conder, Jenna Conder, Hannah Glen and Molly Scott; seven great grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Mattox.
