Ronald "Mooner" Maurice Thoele, 80 of Teutopolis, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A private family mass will be held at St. Francis Of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery with military graveside rites. Memorial donations may be given to the Effingham County Humane Society.

"Mooner" was born June 9, 1940 in Effingham, the son of Maurice "Mart" and Evelyn (Schoenhoff) Thoele. He married Barbara Ann Eirhart on December 28, 1963. "Mooner" was a member of the Effingham American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was a mechanic for Yellow Freight for many years.

Mooner was survived by his wife, Barbara of Teutopolis; son, Wayne Thoele and daughter, Shanta Thoele, both of Springfield; grandchildren, Garrett (Taylor) Buzzard of St. Elmo, Gatlin Healy of St. Elmo, Perry Manley of Charleston, SC; sisters, Mariana Hughes of Mattoon, Edie Michaels of Flat Rock, NC and Myra Thoele (partner, Harish Kallianpur) of Springfield.

Mooner was preceded in death by his parents; sister Diane and brother, Nicholas.
