Ronald E. Shoffstall, 74 of Effingham, passed away at 9:33 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at H.S.H.S. St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a visitation to be held from 4:00 p.m. until time of service, Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Entombment will be held in Camp Butler Cemetery, Springfield with military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Ron was born March 9, 1941 in Jasper County, the son of Walter A. and Evelyn C. (Keller) Shoffstall. He married Marilyn Krueger on August 21, 1976 in Effingham. Ron was a co-owner/ operator of S & W Carpet Installation. He was an avid reader, artist and poet. Ron was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, the Effingham Elks Lodge #1016, Knights of Columbus Council #665 and an honorary Third Degree member. Ron served with the United States Air Force and was a member of the National Rifle Association and Effingham American Legion Post #120.

Ron was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Effingham; children, Grant (Stephanie) Shoffstall of Williamstown, MA, Nicole Shoffstall of Effingham, Gina (Dwayne) Anderson of Mattoon and Jim (Cheryl) Shoffstall of Belleville; grandchildren, Oliver Shoffstall and Dylan Figgins; mother-in-law, Adele Krueger of Effingham. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron was a true gentleman who touched many lives; He will be truly missed.
