"Ron" Worman

Ronald G. "Ron" Worman, 68 of Effingham, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon surrounded by his family and loved ones.
A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, August 25, 2025 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, with a eulogy and service beginning at 6:30 pm. A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Effingham Event Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Fear Nothing, Effingham County Humane Society, the Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly, Chicago, or consider sending flowers to a shut-in or someone in the nursing home in his memory.
Ron was born May 7, 1957 in Effingham, the son of Richard and Pauline (Ruholl) Worman. He attended Quincy College and went on to share his love of learning as a high school English teacher before later working as an editor for McDougal Littell Textbook Publishers. Throughout his life, he held a variety of meaningful roles, including his time at the Heart Theatre and his years of painting and wallpapering. Of all his work, he often said his most fulfilling and "richest" experience was with the Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly in Chicago, where he made lasting connections and friendships. Most recently, he enjoyed serving his community as a driver for Kirby Foods, delivering for the pharmacy and floral departments.
Ron is survived by his father, Richard; brothers, Bob (Carletta) and Dennis (Lori); sister, Carla (John) Kaufman; nieces and nephews, DeDe (Josh) McElravy, Brett Heuerman, Tiffany (Mike) Worman, Bobby (Jessie) Worman, Brianne (Daniel) Carter, Taylor (Paige) Worman, Chelsea (Andy) Glosser, Chad (Kayla) Kaufman, and Caitlin Kaufman; many great-nieces and nephews; several aunts and one uncle, as well as a multitude of friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline; sister, Deborah Kay "Debbie" Worman; grandparents, Albert & Amelia Worman and Alphonse & Clara Ruholl.
It was evident that Ron was deeply loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
