Roland H. Helmbacher's Obituary
Roland H. Helmbacher, 86 of Effingham, passed away at 10:44 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2014 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. www.bauerfh.com
Roland was born January 16, 1928 in Shumway, the son of Clarence R. and Edna A. (Strus) Helmbacher. He married Virginia F. Shade on August 6, 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1991. Roland served with the United States Navy and was a member of the Effingham V.F.W. Post #1769.
Roland is survived by his two sons, Roland Jr. of Newton and Daniel W.; three daughters, Kathleen (Steve) Jamison of Mountain Home, AR, Carol A. (Jim) Davis of Ashley and Frannie Buenker of Watson; two brothers, Ray of Shumway and Neal (Carol) of Fort Smith, AR; 12 grandchildren also survive.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; sister, Phyllis; grandson, Timothy and son-in-law, Allen Buenker.
