Roger was born June 5, 1931, in Effingham, the son of Edward J. and Elizabeth M. (Niemerg) Worman. He married Barbara Quatman on June 23, 1956. He attended Quincy University and Eastern Illinois University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in geography. He taught seventh- and eighth-grade geography and social studies at Teutopolis Junior High and was a school bus driver for Unit 50 from 1957 to 1992. He drove for ARC/CSS from 1992 to 1995.

Roger joined the Illinois National Guard in 1947 and served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1953. He retired from the military as a Lt. Colonel in 1982.

He thoroughly enjoyed his family, friends, teaching and the military. He delighted in a good argument and never knew a stranger. He touched many lives throughout his years of teaching and military service. Roger made a DeColores weekend in 1985 and faithfully attended his prayer group until his health declined. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; two sons, Mike (Joell) of Troy and Bill (Tammie) of Minneapolis; three daughters, Ann (Dean) Vogt of Watson, Amy (Sean) Canaday of Auburn and Mary Jo (Greg) Coady of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Nick (Lori), Ben (Ashley), Ed and Clare Worman, Emily and David Worman, Elizabeth Vogt, and Sam and Ellie Canaday; and two stepgrandchildren, Sean and Kyle Coady. Also surviving are his sister, Luella (Herman) Runde of Teutopolis; two brothers, Leroy (Olive) of Lady Lake, Fla., and Ralph (Paula) of Robinson; sisters-in-law, Verena Quatman of Teutopolis and Leona Glaub of Breese; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his son, John; great-granddaughter, Isabell; his parents; sister, Magdalen "Maggie" Pruemer; and brothers, Albin "Beanie" and Ambrose "Bud" Worman.
