Roger A. Verdeyen Sr., 80, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at his home in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with military rites. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to the time of service, Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice.

Roger was born June 4, 1943 in Cumberland County, the son of Albert and Zella (McKinney) Verdeyen. He married Caroline R. Bannick on May 14, 1964 and she preceded him in death in 2016.

Roger is survived by his sons, Victor, Roger Jr. (Trinetta), Richard (Robin Logsdon), Stanley, Christopher (Brianna Bowin), and his youngest son, David (Michaela) who were his primary caregivers; brother, Jim (Irene); sister, Nancy; brother-in-law, Leonard; grandchildren, Noah, Dominic, Nathan, Lily, Lydia, Trevor, Jasmine, Leroy, Elijah, Gabriella, Natasha, Amelia, Carolina, David (Crystal), Niki Woods, Jessica Woods (Joey Keppler), Kolton Woods (Alexis Gutierrez) and Chelsea Branaman; 8 great-grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Anthony; and sister, Doris Kremer.
