Obituary

Roger Gene Greene of Rimrock, Arizona, formerly of Effingham, died July 8, 2013.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Green Hill Cemetery, Sullivan, Illinois.

Roger was born January 7, 1933 in Kirksville, the son of Harrison Edmund and Charity May (Gustin) Greene. In childhood, Roger had an avid interest in model railroad trains and the work of a depot agent, and was adept in the railroad system of telegraphy by the age of 13. Roger graduated from high school in Arthur and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at the depots and towers of the Wabash Railroad in Illinois and at other railroads in Colorado; in later years he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Effingham and a member of the American Legion. Roger married Jeanette (Ely) in 1960 and she preceded him in death in 2004. In 2006, Roger married Joanna Gerard and she survives.

Along with Joanna, Roger is also survived by a brother, Clement Dean Greene and several nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy and brother, Edmund, Jr.
