Rodney Wayne Mitchell's Obituary
Rodney Wayne Mitchell, 57 of rural Sigel, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Mullen Baptist Church in Spring Point Township (rural Montrose) with burial in the Mullen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mullen Baptist Church or to the donor's choice. www.bauerfh.com
Rodney was born September 18, 1957 in Vandalia, the son of Leo and Lilly May (Hubbert) Mitchell. He married Donella Shride on September 24, 1983 and she preceded him in death in 2002. Rodney was a member of Mullen Baptist Church and was employed in the pressroom at Quebcor and Quad Graphics for many years.
Rodney is survived by his children, Leo (Jamie) of St. Peter and Jessica of Sigel; mother, Lilly May of Sigel; brother, Henry "Hank" (Wanda) of Pana; sisters, Shawn Buck of Ramsey, Julie (Alan) Weaver of Blue Mound, Paula (Kenny) Riley of Herrick; four grandchildren also survive.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father, wife, Donella and infant sister, Cynthia.
