Robert V. McElroy, 71 of Effingham, passed away Monday morning, May 14, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Bob was born March 6, 1947 in Patterson, NJ, the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Tierney) McElroy. He married Jo Mathews on September 22, 1973 and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Bob served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1970. He was a helicopter pilot and instructor while serving during the Vietnam War. Bob worked in sales with Fedders Corporation for 23 years and later the Vice President of Sales of Haier America, retiring in 2017.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jo of Effingham; son, Robert of Alpha, NJ; daughters, Dannie (Kurt) Ziegler of Effingham and Devon (Steve) Scheier of Alpha, NJ; sister, Noreen Swart of Freehold, NJ and three grandchildren, Joey, Quinn and Graham.
