Robert J. "Bob" Niebrugge, 90 of Dieterich, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Dieterich with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the church with a 7:00 p.m. parish wake service, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that memorials be made to Immaculate Conception Cemetery Fund or to the Parish Hall. Bob was born March 2, 1924 in Green Creek, the son of Joseph and Clara (Braun) Niebrugge. He married Marcella L. Probst on September 28, 1949 and she survives. Bob served with the United States Army during WWII and was the owner of Niebrugge Plumbing and Electric. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish, a lifetime member of Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665, former member of the Dieterich Fire Department, Dieterich American Legion #628 and the Effingham V.F.W. Post #1769. Bob enjoyed gardening and enjoy sharing his harvest with his family, friends and neighbors; he also had a love for playing cards.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marcella of Dieterich; two sons, Donald (Paula) of Effingham and Randall (Laura) of rural Wheeler; two daughters, Arlene Fehrenbacher of Dieterich and Linda (Steve) Wente of Mattoon; sisters-in-law, Christine Niebrugge and Dorothy Niebrugge , both of Effingham; ten grandchildren, Karla (Jon) Rasnic, Kyle (fiance, Ashley) Niebrugge, Eric and Amber Fehrenbacher, Connor, Calla and Carly Niebrugge, Mike, Chris (Lindsey) and Tony Wente; five great-grandchildren also survive.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Andrew and Arthur; sister, Alma Ruholl and infant granddaughter, Kendra.
