Richard L. Lance, Jr., 70 of Effingham, passed away at 8:08 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Smith Cemetery, Cassila, Mississippi on Thursday, August 15, 2013. Visitation will be held from Noon until service time, Wednesday at the funeral home. Richard's body was cremated according to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be given to Catholic Charities or to the donor's choice.

Richard was born December 4, 1942 in Phillip, MS, the son of Richard L. Sr. and Norma (Campbell) Lance. He married Carol A. (Vance) on April 9, 1967. Richard was the general manager of the Effingham TA from 1980 to 1993.

Richard is survived by his two daughters, Shannon (Jeremy) Nicholson of Brownsburg, IN and Michelle (Steve) McCann of Hockessen, DE; two sons, Richard (Tammy) of Mobile, AL and William (Rusty) of Brownsburg, IN; two sisters, Carolyn (Rod) Harris of Memphis, TN and Hilda (Robert) Strohm of Crestview, FL; brother, Gary Lee Lance of Greenwood, MS; eight grandchildren also survive.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vicky Lynn; three brothers, Bobby, Prentiss and Gerald; one sister, Pam.
