Raymond H. "Ham" Buening, 90, of Teutopolis, died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the church with a 6:30 p.m. parish prayer service. Memorials may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Grade School. Raymond was born August 20, 1921 in Effingham County, the son of Henry and Dora (Kettman) Buening. He married Florence "Flossie" Nosbisch on October 11, 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1978. Raymond later married Agnes Mettendorf on October 19, 1979 and she preceded him in death in 2005. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a former partner with Buening Implement. Raymond was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, the Effingham D.A.V. and Effingham V.F.W. Post #1769.
He is survived by two daughters, Pat (Eric) Thompson of Sigel and Sandy (Ron) Schroll of Concord, NC; six grandchildren, Nathan (Sheri) of Teutopolis, Jacob Thompson of Effingham, Sarah and Elizabeth of Chicago and Hannah of Nashville, TN, Christopher (Katie) Schroll of Durham, NC; three great grandchildren, Madison, Samuel and Noah; one sister, Marie Schoenhoff of Effingham.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; six brothers and two sisters.
