Obituary

Ralph L. Zerrusen, 83, died at 7:08 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his home in Teutopolis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Burial will be held in St. Francis Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the church with a 6:00 p.m. parish prayer service with a Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following. Ralph was born November 24, 1928 in Teutopolis, the son of Anthony "Tony" and Lena (Worman) Zerrusen. He married Brenda (Pierce) Harper on March 6, 1982 and she survives. Ralph was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, Holy Name Society, Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2874 and the Teutopolis American Legion Post #924. Ralph served with the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda of Teutopolis; three step-children, Ed (Jan) Harper of Mahomet, David (Debbie) Harper of Effingham and Diane (Kevin) Lane of Kinmundy; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Leola Zerrusen of Teutopolis.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raymond, Richard and Leonard; one sister, Emma.
