Paul R. Dust, 87, passed away at 2:08 a.m., Monday, May 29, 2012 at his home in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities.
Paul was born February 17, 1925 in Effingham, the son of Rudolph and Theresa (Heuerman) Dust. He married Elizabeth Ann (Smythe) on May 29, 1948 and she survives. Paul was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham and the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665. He also served with the U.S. Navy during World War II on U.S.S. Chaffee, a destroyer escort.
Paul is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Effingham; three sons, Dr. Eugene (Linda) of Effingham, Dr. Duane (Barbara) of Philo and Dr. Glen (Janese) of Sullivan; daughter, Eileen Dust of St. Louis, MO; sister, Rose Hawickhorst of Teutopolis; eleven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bernard and John; three sisters, Catherine Fuesting, Teresa Petty and Della Blom.
