Omar Lira, 28 of Effingham, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 in Perryville, Missouri.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church in Effingham, with a celebration of Omar's life beginning at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor Tony Muñoz officiating. Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2014 in Oakridge Cemetery in Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iglesia Bautista Latina in order to make funds available to the grieving families. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be dropped off at the church during visitation/celebration or mailed to: Bauer Funeral Home, 1212 West Evergreen Avenue, Effingham, IL 62401. www.bauerfh.com
Omar was born on February 15, 1986 in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico, the son of Javier Lira and Martha Esparza. He enjoyed four wheeling, had a passion for cooking, especially on the grill, and was learning to fish. Omar's family was very important to him, as was his love for the Lord. He was a member of the Iglesia Bautista Latina (Calvary Baptist Church in Effingham) and was always eager to serve.
Omar is survived by his parents; fiancé, Crystal Pocrnich of Effingham; children, Josiah Jose Jones, Jeaven-Lee Sueann Lira and Jada Azucena Dawnette Lira; siblings, Sandra Patricia Lira Esparza, Javier Lira Esparza, Gabriela Alejandra Lira, Brenda Lira and Luis Alberto Lira; grandmother, Angela Limones de Esparza.
Omar was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Azucena Esparza; his beloved uncle, Ernesto Lira Vasquez; grandparents, Trinidad Lira Mejia, Natalia Vásquez de Lira and Rafael Esparza.
