Norbert A. Goeckner, 88, of rural Effingham (Bishop Creek) died at 11:25pm Thursday, January 13th at his home.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8pm at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with a parish wake service at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be Monday at 10:30am at St. Aloysius with burial in the parish cemetery.
Norbert was born Sept 10, 1922 in Bishop Creek, the son of William and Rosa Goeckner. He married Eleanor Will on Sept. 11, 1948. Children include Kenneth (Betty), Linda Verdeyen, Edward (Jane), Dale (deceased) (Sandy), William (Sherry) all of Effingham. Roger (Wendy) of Bourbonnais, Charles (Rose), Karen (Mark) Pruemer of Teutopolis, and Betty (Tim) Wente of Lillyville. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren, 4 sisters Jerome, Adella, Laura and Emma Goeckner, all Adorers of the Blood of Christ in Ruma, IL.
Norbert was a lifelong farmer and member of St. Isidore parish (St. Aloysius Catholic Church)
He was preceeded in death by his wife Eleanor, son Dale, parents, brothers, William and Alphonse, sisters, William and Martha Goeckner, also Adorers of the Blood of Christ.
