Nome Alane Keller passed away on July 28, 2015 near her home in Lady Lake, Florida.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Those desirous of making donations in Nome's memory are asked to donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or other charity of their choice.

Nome was born on June 17, 1944, the daughter of Francis "Fritz" and Naoma Hardiek. She was a member of the Effingham High School Class of 1962.  After raising her children in Effingham, she and Gary moved to South Dakota where they owned several hotels.  Upon retirement, they moved to Lake Sara where Nome spent endless hours entertaining her grandchildren on her pontoon boat.

Nome is survived by Gary Anderson; son, Charles Keller Jr. (Fanny); daughter, Keidrah (Chad) McWhorter; grandchildren, Alex, Peter, Anna Sophia and Anna Isabella Keller and Morgan, Mack and Madison McWhorter; Gary's children, Gail Anderson (Bruce Hulse) and Eric (Kari) Anderson; Gary's grandchildren, Anders, Madeline and Thomas Hulse and Derek and Logan Anderson.

Nome loved people and made new friends wherever she went.  One of her greatest gifts was her ability to make people laugh, which she continued to do right up until the end of her life.  She will be greatly missed by her family and countless friends.
