Obituary

Nancy Lee Burke, 81 of Effingham, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Private family services will be held with entombment in Arborcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Arborcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Nancy was born August 30, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Harold and Jane (Long) Troup. She married Ronald L. "Stoney" Burke on August 8, 1959 and he preceded her in death in 2017. Nancy enjoyed her family, especially dancing and karaoke with her grandchildren. Her life was her family.

Nancy is survived by her children, Pam (Joe) Workman, Cindy (Dave) Gaddey, and Renee Schoenfeld (Mark Workman); daughter-in-law, Bev Burke; sister, Janet Stookey; brother-in-law, Phil (Joyce) Burke; sister-in-law, Dawn (James) Neal; grandchildren, Anthony (Miranda) Gaddey, Jody (Josh) Goeckner, Jamie (Michael) Kendrick, Casey (Chris) Overbeck, Luke (Tiffany) Workman, Laura (Kurt) Thull, Jenna (D.J.) Orsborn, Janelle (Luke) Schuette, Joni (Jordan) Burke, Joey (Katrina) Schoenfeld, and Stephanie (Sajal) Agarwal; 24 great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ronald Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Don and Dorothy Burke; son-in-law, Brett Schoenfeld; nephew, Bob Burke; brother, Rodney Troup; sisters, Marilynn and Patricia Troup; and granddaughter, Patricia Burke.
