Myrna V. Alcoke, 98 of Effingham, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015 at H.S.H.S. St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Myrna was born April 24, 1916 in Montrose, the daughter of John D. and Etta Jane (Kingery) Elliott. She married R.H. Alcoke on April 12, 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1992. Myrna was a member of the First Christian Church in Effingham.
Myrna is survived by her son, Larry (Marilyn) of Galesburg and daughter, Darlene Mette of Effingham; twin brothers, Delbert and Elbert Elliott, both of Wood River; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Mary Lynn Mette; two sisters, Lena Sly and Jessie Gephart and three brothers, Lester, Omer and Denver Elliott.
