Obituary

Milton Lee McMillan, 80 of Effingham, IL passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, April 8th, 2020, at the home of his daughter, surrounded by family.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time and place with interment at Caledonia Cemetery, in Sparta, Illinois. The family requests that in honor of Milton's love of dogs, memorials be made to the Effingham County Humane Society, 12073 North 1000th Rd. Effingham, IL 62401. Milton was born December 10, 1939, in Sparta, IL, to Roy Vernon and Isabelle (Lunk) McMillan. He married Mary Rita Barry on December 15, 1962 in Sparta, Il.

Milton was raised in Sparta,  and graduated from Sparta High School in 1957 where he played football.  He worked for Holloway Farms while being employed at Spartan Printing until 1974 when he and his family transferred to Effingham to work at World Color Inc. Milton was a proud member of the Graphic Communication International Union, Local 391 and served in the capacity of union president for several years.  For the past twenty years, Milton worked at the Auto Mall of Effingham, a job in which he made numerous friends and a job that he thoroughly enjoyed up until the time of his death. Milton was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Effingham. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Milton,(Papa Mac, Milty Boy, Big Mac, Toaster) loved boating on Lake Sara, a well manicured lawn, and fast cars passing on the latter to his grandsons. Later in life, Milton became a man of few words but loved doting on his five grandchildren.

Miton is survived by his wife; son David Charles of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Leigh Anne (Jim) Hammer of Effingham; grandsons Andrew Cullen and William Connor McMillan of Albuquerque, NM, Donovan Patrick and Liam Michael Hammer of Effingham, and granddaughter Tierney Anne Hammer of East Lansing, MI.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers Roy Roger and Larry Dean.
