August 2, 1927 – January 12, 2019
C. Milton Hinkle, 91 of Effingham, passed away January 12, 2019 at his home with his family at his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16th at Sacred heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:30 PM Tuesday evening at the church, with a Knights Columbus rosary to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Sacred Heart School for tuition or to the church for the renovation.
Milton was born on August 2, 1927 in Mason, the son of Chester and Mable (Scruggs) Hinkle. He married Dolores Sieben on August 6, 1955 and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2009. Milton was the co-owner of Hinkle & Percival Masonry Contracting. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Milton was a member of the Effingham Knights of Columbus, the Bricklayers & Allied Craftsman union, US Army veteran, past member of the board of directors at Illinois Community Bank, and the Sacred Heart School Board. He loved the time spent with his wife traveling and golfing. Milton enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. His hobbies included growing tomatoes, pecans and working at his farm.
He was survived by five daughters, Debby Sanders, Cindy (Todd) Kabbes, Carol Clarkson, Tammy (Bob) Lakin, all of Effingham and Kathy (Randy) Malawy of Edwardsville; brothers, Ted Hinkle, Bob Hinkle and Jim Hinkle; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five sisters and three brothers.
