Milla A. Kollinger, 84 of Effingham, died at 8:26 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time, Tuesday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Milla was born on January 4, 1930 in Graz, Austria, the daughter of Joseph and Milla (Schalk) Rohrer. She married Peter Kollinger on November 3, 1951 in Graz, Austria. They both, along with her in-laws, immigrated to the United States in 1952, arriving by ship at Ellis Island, New York. They first resided in Chicago and later settled in Stewardson in 1954. They moved to Effingham in 1980 and were presently living at Lake Sara.
Milla is survived by her husband, Dr. Peter Kollinger; three sons, Dr. Herbert (Kathy) Kollinger of Alpharetta, GA, Dr. Edwin (partner, Bryan) Kollinger of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Erich Kollinger of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kristin Kollinger and Kristopher Kollinger of Alpharetta, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Milla was a unique lady and will be very much missed by her husband, family and friends.
