Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Stumeier, 99, passed away Monday evening, October 8, 2018 at her home in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial beside her husband in St. Anthony Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m., followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening (October 18th) at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to St. Mary of the Woods College or to the St. Anthony Parish, and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Millie was born September 17, 1919 in Effingham, the fifth child of Casper and Elizabeth (Koester) Nacke. She married Wesley "Stu" Stumeier and he preceded her in death in 1975. Millie was a homemaker, member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the St. Anthony DCCW. She made the DeColores en Cristo Retreat #4 and was past president of Sacred Heart Altar Society and dedicated over fifty years of service to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. Throughout the years, Mildred did other volunteer work including working with Meals on Wheels, scouts, religion classes, funeral dinners and blood banks.

Surviving are her son, Wayne (Irene) Stumeier of Watson; daughter, Sue (Scott) Horinka of Effingham and Teresa (Mark) Chenoweth of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Stumeier Roop of Effingham; grandchildren, Rick and Steve Stumeier, Debbie Lindsay, David King, Wesley and Shane Dunn, Emily Macklin, Daniel Stumeier, Patricia Winston, Katherine Kuehl and Jonathan Chenoweth; great-grandchildren, Darren, Derick, Casey, Abby, Sara, Nick, Andrea, Cody, Jessica, Zane, Jayden, Ellie, Evie, Joel, Michaela and Anneliese; great-great-grandchildren, Lane, Rece, Jack, Luke, Myah, Nina, Zion, Kegan, Kaden, Abel, Kopelyn, Nesta Sol and Maiverie Lynn.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Johnnie Stumeier; sisters, Agnes Deters and Bernadine Kinkelaar; brothers, Casper Jr. "Pete", Louis, Don and Joe Nacke.

Millie will be remembered for her manner of life, her many accomplishments and the true sincerity in what she did.
