Michl W. "Mike" Meek, 58, of Effingham died at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Mr. Meek was born Aug. 30, 1952, in Tuscola, the son of Robert and Mary Lou (White) Meek. He married Lynn A. (Ries) on July 1, 1972.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Kreke of Effingham and Erin Michelle Haynes of Watson; four grandchildren, Ashley, Trevor and Gabbi Kreke and Colby Haynes; mother, Mary Lou Marks of St. Joseph; three brothers, Lee (Peggy) Warner of Champaign, Jack (Linda) Meek of Decatur and Robbie (Charlotte) Meek of Oak Hall, Va.; and two sisters, Mary Jo (Richard) Lazell of Maroa and Karen (Bill) Valdahl of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his father; one infant grandson, Reece Michl Haynes; and one brother, Steve Meek.
