Michael Paul Koeberlein, 69, of Dieterich passed away at 10:22p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Lakeland Health Care, Effingham IL.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.  Visitation will be in the St Aloysius Parish Center from 9:00a.m.  to 10:30 a.m.  Memorials can be made to the donors choice.

Michael was born on August 25, 1952 to William and Rosemary (Mersman) Koeberlein.  He attended Dieterich Community School thru the 8th Grade.  He then attended and graduated from St Joseph Franciscan Seminary, Oak Brook, IL in 1970.  He received his Bachelors Degree in History from Quincy College in 1974,  He received his Masters Degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1975.  Michael enjoyed teaching and did so at several area Colleges.  He was a member of St Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church.  Mike was an active member of the Secular Franciscans.

Michael is survived by a brother, David (Gin) and 3 nieces,  Jessica (Robert) Uthell, Emily (Larry) Uthell, and Katie (Luke) Brummer.  He is also survived by 9 great nieces and nephews, Adam Uthell, Allie, Melanie and Chase Uthell, and Max, Sam, Nathan, Molly, and Grant Brummer.

Michael was preceeded in death by his parents, and maternal grandparents, Henry and Mary Mersman and paternal grandparents, Harry and Nellie Koeberlein.
