Obituary

Michael J. Zerrusen, 51, of Hidalgo, passed away at 4:00 p.m on Friday, January 23, 2015 at H.S.H.S. St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital.

A Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Teutopolis with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m Tuesday evening at the church with a 6:45 p.m. parish wake service. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorials be made to Michael's children. Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis is assisting the family with arrangements.


Mike was born on February 5, 1963 in Teutopolis, the son of Larry and Marilyn (Goeckner) Zerrusen.  He married Kimberly Parker on January 23, 2006 and she survives.

Mike was currently employed by Rural King Supply as an over the road truck driver. He was an outstanding mechanic and aggressive behind the wheel of a demolition derby car. Mike always gave fairgoers a show. Many also knew of Mike's love for drag racing, tractor pulling, camping, farming, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife of 9 years, Kimberly; parents, Larry and Marilyn Zerrusen; father and mother-in-law, Vic and Bobbye Puckett of Huntsville, AL;  two daughters, Jessica (Andy) Warfel of Hidalgo and Brandie (Tony) Johnson of Dieterich; three sons, Justin (fiancé Andrea Ward), Austin (fiance Allie Hanks) of Marshall and Cody Michael at home;  step-children, Tyler (Leigha) Parker of Alabama, Taryn (Will) Hamilton and Cayton (James Hand) Moak of Tennessee; grandchildren, Kyla and Jordan Johnson, Olivia and Maleeya Warfal, Hunter Zerrusen; step-grandchildren, Conner, Dane, and West Story and Parker Hand; brothers, Don (Jennifer) of Teutopolis, Scott (fiancé Angie Jones) of Fenton, MO and Chuck (Sherri) of Louisville; sisters, Sandy (Kevin) Thoele of Effingham and Keri (Rodney) Will of Teutopolis; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sylvester and Laura Zerrusen and Ferd and Alice Goeckner; uncles, Freddy Goeckner, Oliver Heuerman, and Eugene Goeckner; aunt, Anna Mae Hewing; sister-in-law, Barbi Holmon and step-grandchild, Addison Story.
