Matthew L. "Matt" Prewitt, 45 of Effingham, passed away at 9:22 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the church with Masonic rites to follow. Memorials may be made to DaVita of Effingham or to the American Kidney Foundation. Matt was born January 29, 1969 in Seymour, IN, the son of William M. "Bill" and Janet K. (Lockman) Prewitt. He worked in the printing department of Quebecor World, Inc. for 18 years. Matt was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham and the Effingham Masonic Lodge.

Matt is survived by his parents of Effingham; twin brother, Mark of Effingham; sister, Jan Prewitt of Chicago; sister-in-law, Robin Prewitt of Beecher City; nephew, Jeremy Kyle and nieces, Kristen Kyle-Toops and Lauren Prewitt; three great-nieces and one great-nephew.

Matt was preceded in death by his brother, Scott and his beloved dogs, Max and Kayce.
