Obituary

Mary Ann Probst, 78, of Wheeler, died at 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove with burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the church and for one hour prior to the funeral service, Saturday in the parish hall. There will be a C.D. of A. rosary held at 5:00 p.m. and a 6:00 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or to the donor's choice. Mary Ann was born on June 14, 1933, in Jasper County, the daughter of Morand and Anna (Habing) Lidy. She married Norbert Probst on June 14, 1952. She was a member of St. Isidore Parish, Effingham Catholic Daughters of America Court #720 and St. Isidore Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by her husband, Norbert of Wheeler; one son, Bryant (Bernice) Probst of Wheeler; two daughters, Lynne (Larry) George of Newton and Peggy (David) Stephenson of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Andrea (John) Aggertt, Dana Probst, Tammy (Erik) Reeter, and Connor and Hunter Stephenson; great grandchild, Bennett Aggertt; two sisters, Isabelle Lustig and Dorothy (Lawrence) Niebrugge, both of Effingham; brother, Jerry of Roswell, New Mexico and sister-in-law, Anna Lidy of Wheeler.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis; sister, Marcella Deters and brother, James Lidy.
