Mary McWhorter, 96 of Effingham, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service, Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mary was born January 3, 1925 in Brisbane, Australia, the daughter of William and Mary (Barry) Henderson. She married Ferdie L. McWhorter on August 14, 1943 in Brisbane, Australia and he preceded her in death in 2002.

Mary is survived by her children, Kathryn Smith of Shumway, Patrick (Lila) of Effingham, Sharon (Alan) Harris of Effingham, Colleen (Michael) Mitchell of Northrop, CO, Irene (Greg) Lilley of Effingham, Eileen (Dale) Stuckemeyer of Altamont and Timothy (Patricia) of Cape Coral, FL; daughter-in-law, Patti of Altamont; 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Ferdie L. "Mickey" Jr. and Daniel; daughter, Maureen; grandchildren, Troy Boyer, Rachel Stuckemeyer and Joshua Baker; son-in-law, Lonnie Smith; brothers, Richard, Patrick, John, Clarence, Stanley, Percy, Alfred, William, Timothy and Leslie Henderson and sister, Kathleen Richmond.
